Solar panels on your own roof

Produce your own electricity and become less dependent on fluctuating power prices. We help you find out whether your roof is suitable and which system pays off for you.

Solar panel systems for your home

Choose a size as a starting point. We always tailor the system to your roof and electricity use.

kWp (kilowatt peak) is the maximum output of the system under ideal conditions.

Why solar at home?

A solar panel system is a long-term investment in your home. Here are some reasons to consider it.

  • Your own electricity

The power you produce is used directly in your home, so you need to buy less electricity from the grid.

  • Sell the surplus

If you produce more than you use, you can sell the surplus back to your electricity supplier as a prosumer.

  • Low maintenance

Solar panels have no moving parts and usually need little attention. Rain and snow do much of the cleaning.

Is your roof suitable?

No two roofs are the same. Before we recommend a system, we look at things like:

Roof direction and solar

  • South – produces the most
  • East and west – work well
  • North – least suitable
  • Orientation and pitch

South-facing roofs produce the most, but east- and west-facing roofs can also work well.

  • Shade

Trees, neighbouring houses and mountains can cast shade during parts of the day or year.

  • Roof condition

The roof should be in good condition, as the panels will stay there for many years.

  • Your electricity use

The system should match how much electricity you use, and at what time of day.

Frequently asked questions

Do solar panels work in Norway?

Yes. Solar panels generate electricity from daylight, and cold temperatures actually improve panel efficiency. Production peaks from spring to autumn and is low in midwinter, especially further north.

What happens in winter?

Production drops when the days are short, and snow on the panels stops production until it slides off or melts. That is why a system should be assessed on its production over the whole year, not individual months.

Do I need a battery?

No, it is not necessary. Surplus power can be fed into the grid. A battery may still be worth considering if you want to use more of your own electricity. We help you assess whether it pays off for you.
